…at least not very much.
And it’s not full of nudity!
From the comments on this site, you’d think Rotte was some kind of borderline-porn OMG NIPPLES AND VULVA EVERYWHERE BRB FAPPING series! But it’s not!
Rotte’s artwork is over-the-top cute, and is fanservice-y enough to be considered “ecchi”, but every other aspect of the series (ignoring the whole “loli succubus” thing, which is really not that prominent, other than as a plot premise) is presented fairly innocently.
I think someone who wants to see it as perverted faptastic lolicon fodder has every reason to. But just because you see nudity where I see clothes, doesn’t mean there’s nudity.
In before “lol naked Asuha ass.” She’s just being a cute kid, you perverts.
*awaits comment shitstorm*
Leave it to the loli porn expert.
I’m glad you’re entrusting me with so great a duty.
• saru leaves it to whoever that may be
C’mon, are you serious? A story about a 10-year-old, scantily-dressed succubus? I admit it’s not like the story is all about sex with a child, but the idea is overwhelmingly present. I’d never admit to anyone in RL that I read something like this. They’d instantly label me a pedo.
Asuha is being a cute kid? No, the mangaka is a pervert.
Plain and simple. I don’t blame you for defending the series–I’d do the same–but I don’t see any reason the succubus had to be a dainty little girl. I guess it’s may just be cultural differences… or a leniency towards pedophilia lol.
Remember kiddies, it’s not rape if you yell “Surprise!”
I’ll remember that.
<EVIL GRIN>
I’m dead serious! And what’s wrong with 10 year-old, scantily-clad succubi? They grow faster than humans, so she’s at least 14 (in human years) in my book.
Humans are born human, succubi born succubus. She’s clearly a dainty little girl because she hasn’t grown up yet! AND DON’T DISCRIMINATE AGAINST A WHOLE SPECIES JUST BECAUSE THEIR PUBERTY PROCESS/RITUALS ARE DIFFERENT THAN YOURS.
Anyways, the mangaka is clearly a pervert (genius), but she’s written a cute story that’s not overtly sexual (ignoring the whole “loli succubus” premise, which is really not that prominent chapter-to-chapter) unless you want to see it that way. You’re left with choosing whether the pantsu are cute, or perverted. There are plenty of series featuring the same level of fanservice found in Rotte that simply cannot be labeled anything but perverted. Rotte is not one of them.
Also, has anyone else noticed Rotte has heart-shaped cutouts in ALL of her clothes, (mostly where her bellybutton shows through)?
Nobody’s suggesting you need tell anyone what you enjoy reading. I don’t tell most people that I read atheist literature, but that doesn’t mean it’s somehow “bad” for me to read it.
Oh, and the succubus had to be a little girl, because that makes it more fun. Live a little!
I like that discussion, actually. IMHO, your reply about how “It’s all in whether you find the panties cute or perverted” just about sums it all up.
I’ve *almost* felt like a pervert for blushing at what could have been perverted about this manga… then I realised that the mangaka goes to quite a length to make it clear. So that cleared my conscience up.
Y’know what I think? Even for people who couldn’t care less about the fanservice, you have to admit that it adds a unique flavour to the whole thing. The stark contrast between the “ecchiness” of the images and the discretion of the dialogue makes the whole thing that much funnier. Plus, lots of it just makes sense: Asuha isn’t acting primly because she hasn’t learnt to. (Y’all do remember that she grew up alone with an almost adolescent dad, right?) Effie is as much a cow as Clarabelle. Mercelida just likes sex. It just… doesn’t strain my suspension of disbelief. Usually it’s not even tugging at it. What’s more, lots of the fanservice is just a matter of the angle of viewing… zooming in on two girls eating hot-dogs does not sexual deviance make.
P.S. I’ve never hidden the fact that I read Rotte no Omocha, and I see no reason to either.
Yea, it’s irrelevant now, but I must reply!
Hmmm, you do make a good point. I just don’t really like how most little girls in manga are barely clothed. I read plenty of of series that has little girls that are ignorant and and ditzy for the comic appeal. It bothers me a little that this girl in this manga (I ‘m following A LOT of manga; cant remember names) is looking for people to have sex with. Granted, it’s so she can survive, but you know what I mean. Thankfully, there’s none to speak of. I’m not criticizing your opinion (or I’m not intending to). I agree with you for the most part. But can’t she wear more clothes? Maybe it’s because I have a niece. Who knows.
Also, a 14-year-old is still an underdeveloped minor. I see you’re either being sarcastic or passionate on the CAPS part. I’m hoping sarcasm. You can’t discriminate against an imaginary being lol. Then again, people do the same with “God”.
Fuck it, this argument is pointless. We agree to a point, that’s good enough.
On a lighter note, might I inquire what literature that you mentioned would be a good read? That is, if anyone other than myself comes back to a 2 week old post :/
Wait, what attracted you to this series? Your argument seems to conflict every theme this manga contains.
On the topic of Asuha, she wears just about as much as Rotte, to be honest. Give or take some delicious leggings. The downside is that Asuha doesn’t share her love of heart-shaped cut outs in all of her garments.
I am disappoint.
At what?
It took you long enough to show up.
I actually don’t disagree that the mangaka is perverted. Not in the slightest. Oddly enough, I don’t seem to mind.
I’ve actually had people look through my small collection of manga when they come over, and they always ask about Rotte. All I have to say is, “It’s about a ten-year-old succubus.” and they stop me there.
Those who are hoping for loli sex out of Rotte no Omocha are going to be quite let down, because I don’t see the series going that way at all. It’s more or less ecchi comedy, and I find it pretty tasteful compared to other lolicon manga.
Hey, i don’t think the mangaka being a pervert ever bothered anyone^^ in fact haven’t we all got “pervert’s genes”(if i may call it that). honestly i think every single mangaka is a pervert (except maybe those doing things so intelligence-oriented that you wonder if they are sane…). actually, it’s a plus. Perverted things are good, and easy to add in a comedy or such.
Anyway, Rotte is just so cute(but i prefer the lil’ Asuha^^. no, no, i swear, it’s not because she likes to walk around without panties on >_>*sweat*) and i like the story. what else can i ask ?
>and they stop me there.
They stop looking, or they stop your explanation because they don’t want to hear more?
They stop me and they put the book down. I mean, the concept of succubi in general is too erotic for some people.
Not even bothering to hide your power level, eh?
Well damn I loled. I feel so stupid for not figuring out earlier that saru was trolling all along in the previous topic!
@Rem
Of course the mangaka is perverted, have you seen her hidden website? It’s filled with loli porn.
URL or I call bullshit.
Don’t lie. You just want to fap to it.
:\

Well on a sidenote Haga Yui also drew for one erogame (that had a loli in it) and one doujin erogame that had a loli in it.
And enjoy your fa… I mean your verification of the truth!
well, if I wasn’t on an FBI watchlist for my downloading habits before, I am now…
I was actually hoping for a page I haven’t seen yet. I am thoroughly disappointed. This is the same as everything else she draws.
Especially if you have her Digital Life artwork.
No such thing. What else would you want? A site where she would release for free everything she sold before?
bar a couple of works involving penises, I don’t find most of those to be perverted at all, they’re perfectly innocent, and not doing anything sexual at all. http://haga.neko.ne.jp/mc2b.jpg particularly this one, I find this to be absolutely adorable. No one seems to freak out when a cute girl has her cute face exposed…so why not other cute parts?
I totally agree with you. This picture is totally innocent just like the manga itself. And even those pictures with penises are innocent actually. What’s wrong with seeing those? They’re just yet another part of the body of someone, nothing perverted about it, unless you’re a pervert! There’s lot of anime like Dragon Ball where you see those and they aren’t sexualized at all either!
Clarification: the “genre” ecchi, according to the MangaUpdates database, is “[p]ossibly the line between hentai and non-hentai, [and] usually refers to fanservice put in to attract a certain group of fans.”
Ore and Honoka are probably ecchi too by that definition.
Ecchi is more or less romaji for the Japanese pronunciation of the letter ‘H’. Basically, it means erotic. I don’t know where MangaUpdates got “[p]ossibly the line between hentai and non-hentai” from, but when used as a noun, it means to have sex.
Ecchi comes from the beginning of the word “hentai”, and is generally used as a milder form of it. Think of it somewhat like the terms “God damn” and “Gosh darn” in English… they technically mean the same exact thing, but in practice one is milder than the other.
Yeah, it’s basically like censorship.
Like typing “F you” instead of “Fuck you.”
no excuses you perverts!
*reads Rotte with wholeheartedly eyes*
oh wait, me too then
Damn you and your perverted gaze.
Rotte is pure dammit.
It’s a good thing I tried to check the manga because of the insane description about the upcoming anime. I’m already proud of it because it’s funny xD The thing is it’s not for immature high school kids. I’m enjoying it because of the green jokes. The characters aren’t bland either. They’re not all blushing and shying like annoying hormonal teenagers. We’ve got a LEAD MALE with a KID!
And the other aspect why I, who simply hates romance and fanservices, tolerated the elements in the manga is because it’s their culture. When I see it’s really quite normal for them to that, I’m like, oh, okay then. After all, I’m not about to call tribal groups perverted for walking around naked
When I learned the lead was a succubus, that made me instantly accept what was going on xD Because, well, she’s a succubus. And I like how the mangaka compared it to vampires. Vampires drink blood, so why can’t succubus drink…well, drink from humans too xD
Only thing that will stop make me stop reading is when the fanservices get out of hand. At the moment, it’s subtle and few. I read The World God Only Knows and while the fanservice is even less (since it’s mostly kisses) it’s kind of in the same boat.
I speak for myself though. I don’t know if it has “effects” on others though for me, it’s all about the humor and the story.
For me, it’s all about cuteness and the characters. There’s almost no story to speak of.
It shouldn’t strike you odd that she can drink human sperm. The myth of succubi originates from demonic beings stealing the sperm from human males to give to an incubus to impregnate human females. More or less, if the lore was somewhat accurate, she’d be making a very healthy choice for her body.
